In\nrelation to the study of DoE methods, the basics of the theory will\nbe provided together with some practical examples. As regards the\nscientific writing part, the fundamental elements of a scientific\npaper will be presented and the creation of a document about a\ngeneric laboratory experience will be envisaged in order to verify\nthe concepts covered by the lectures.  \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Program<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lesson\n1<\/strong> \u2013 Theoretical lesson on writing and structure of a paper \/\nthesis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fundamental elements of the structure of a paper \/ thesis will be presented and analyzed deeply. <br>In particular, the first lesson will cover the following elements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>a.\nAbstract &#8211; structure and essential elements, definition of context,\nobjective and method, presentation of different types of abstracts\nbased on some published examples, importance of keywords and summary\nof main results<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>b.\nIntroduction &#8211; structure and analysis of the state of art,\npresentation of tools for literature study and organization of the\nwork summary aimed at defining a clear introduction that allows for a\nclear statement of the specific contribution of the presented study<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>c.\nBibliography &#8211; examples of bibliography and tools for a fast and\ndynamic realization<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lesson\n2<\/strong> \u2013 Theoretical lesson on writing and structure of a paper \/\nthesis<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nfundamental elements of the structure of a paper \/ thesis will be\npresented and analyzed deeply. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In\nparticular, the second lesson will cover the following elements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>a.\nMethodology &#8211; structure and analysis of examples from literature,\nanalysis of the essential elements and possible tools for effective\ncommunication (flowcharts, concept maps)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>b.\nResults &#8211; structure and analysis of literature examples, importance\nof graphic elements, possible tools and quality standards<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>c.\nDiscussion \/ Conclusions &#8211; structure and analysis of literature\nexamples<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lesson\n3<\/strong> \u2013 Theoretical basis of Design of Experiment methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>a.\nIntroduction to Designed Experiments<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>b.\nBasic Statistical Methods<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>c.\nAnalysis of Variance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>d.\nFactorial Experiments<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>e.\nRegression Modeling<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>f.\nRobust Design<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>g.\nExamples of practical applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(reference\ntext: Design and Analysis of Experiments &#8211; Montgomery, Douglas C.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Expected\noutcomes<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A\nshort report (in the form of an article \u2013 4 pages) about a\nlaboratory activity, which will be reviewed and discussed during the\nlast class.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>General information Targeted year: 1\u00b0 year of the PhD program CFU: 1 Classes: 3 lessons of 3 academic hours \u2013 1 open discussion class Held by: Lorenzo Bartolucci, PhD The three lessons will be held through the MS Teams platform (Class code: b1si3tp).
