Research Activities

  • Ferritic/Martensitic stainless steels, candidate material for structural applications in future fusion reactors: microstructural  and mechanical characterization; study of  Cr carbides precipitation;  study of mechanical properties of welded joints (laser beam and TIG); influence of Cr on Hydrogen attack;
  • Production and characterization of metal foams (Al,Fe. Pb);
  • Effects of small charges explosion on fcc metals;
  • Plastic deformation at high temperature of titanium alloys;
  • Mechanical and microstructural characterization of titanium composite reinforced with SiC fibers;
  • Shape memory alloys (SMA) to be employed as sensor and/or actuator;
  • Improvement of fatigue behaviour in metal matrix composites (Al-based) by means of thin sputtered Ti coating;
